Hello,
My name is Sonata, and I'm a partner at Solaris Publishing LLP. If you've had anything to do with Rat & Mouse Magazine - and I imagine you would have if you're here, on the RAM website - you've probably had some dealings with me. I do like to keep my fingers in all the pies (mmm, pie). Rat & Mouse Magazine is, afterall, my special project (more on that later), and I think that it's important for me to make sure I know what's going on. This is a family-run business so everything is my business!
Enough about me. I'm sure you'd like to know more about the magazine, how it came about and why.
It all started er..ooh it must have been about 4 years ago now. I noticed that while there was a lot of interest in rats and mice out there in the world, there wasn't very much for us to call our own. Dogs have magazines, cats, horses and even caged birds do. There are fishing magazines, car magazines, knitting magazines, gardening magazines - all sorts really. But there weren't any proper, substantial colour magazines.
So the idea stuck in the back of my mind for a while, but I had a lot else on. However, there came a time when I decided that enough was enough. The world needed a magazine about rats and mice - one that was fun but also had good, solid articles, top quality advice from professionals and experts and more! So, after months of research, work, work and more work, the first issue of Rat & Mouse Magazine was published in November 2008.
Since then, we've printed and posted what feels like billions of copies of the magazine. We've also invested heavily in online technology to enable a wider community of rodent lovers to gain access to the magazine at a low cost without having to wait ages for the postman!
So that's us in a nutshell. We love rats and mice - and I've had both in my time - and we wanted to provide a resource for other pet lovers out there. I'm very proud of what we have produced and it's down to not just the Rat & Mouse Magazine team here at the HQ, but also the greater team made up of all the authors, photographers, artists, subscribers and other customers who have helped make us what we are today.
We will continue to expand and improve the magazine and we always listen to your comments and suggestions - keep them coming!
We hope that you like what we're doing and continue to support us in our endeavours. Thank you for your support!
